Planetary Star of David

Eclipses are a fascinating part of Astrology. The Sun and Moon are, obviously, very different in actual size, however, from our earthly perspective, they appear to be roughly the same size. During a total Solar Eclipse the Sun, Moon and Earth are aligned, such that the Moon blocks our view of the Sun and suddenly, for a few moments, daylight becomes darkness (if you happen to be in the right location on Earth). The Lunar Eclipse is less dramatic, caused when the Full Moon passes through the Earth's shadow (but can be seen from any place on the night side of the Earth). Each month there is a New Moon, followed in two weeks by a Full Moon. Eclipses always occur at the New and Full Moons, but only when the three bodies are aligned with one another, approximately every six months. Like everything else in nature, Eclipses have recurring cycles.

Astrologers look at the sign in which the Eclipse occurs as well as the pattern formed by the Planets at that time. This gives some indication of how all of us are affected, the global implications. For you as an individual, the area of your birthchart affected by the Eclipses will give an indication of the important issues and the areas of your life that are especially highlighted or emphasized during the year.

On November 8th there will be a Lunar Eclipse, with the Sun in mid-Scorpio and the Moon exactly opposite, in Taurus. (A Full Moon is a Sun-Moon opposition, astrologically.) This will be followed by a Solar Eclipse on November 23rd, when the Moon and Sun meet (Sun-Moon conjunction) in the first degree of Sagittarius.

This particular Lunar Eclipse creates an unusual celestial pattern with the aspects of the Planets forming two equilateral triangles (grand trines), interlinked in a Star of David formation. One Astrologer, John Mireheil, who has been researching this Eclipse since 1998, has found no other date with the same alignment between 1000 B.C.E. and 3000 C.E. He has dubbed this configuration the 'Harmonic Concordance' and finds that references from various spiritual traditions suggest this time as "a portal for a planetary shift in consciousness".
